ScrollyLite

A sequence of visual story panels connected by flowing data

ScrollyLite grew out of public-facing data stories built with policy and climate communication researchers. It turns repeated scrollytelling patterns into a reusable authoring framework.

From practice to library

  • Translated expert-coded analysis of 200 news articles on disadvantage into an interactive story for general readers.
  • Built a climate visualisation with custom threshold controls and historical comparisons.
  • Developed a four-dimensional framework for reasoning about scrollytelling design.
  • Implemented an npm library where authors describe each story step; the system diffs consecutive steps, infers what changed, and animates the transition with D3.
